Quebec (QMEA)

The QMEA's new President is Valerie Descombes. She is the music specialist at Harmony Elementary School of the New Frontiers School Board.

QMEA's winter workshop will take place on February 12, 2010 at the Royal West Academy. The focus of this workshop will be the use of Smart Boards in the music classroom presented by QMEA president Valerie Descombes and Vice President Isabelle Plante. The second part of the workshop will feature Quebec composer Louis Babin who will explore the development of music appreciation through composition and creation in the music classroom.

Ontario (OMEA)

The OMEA had an extremely successful 60th Anniversary Conference, thanks to Kevin Merkley & Jane Wamsley the co-chairs and also their team of dedicated volunteers to ensure that everything ran smoothly! 

We held an intensive writing retreat at the end of November for the approximately 50 writers, elementary & secondary.  These teams of writers are assisting us in writing curriculum supports/lessons/units for the revised elementary & secondary curriculums.  These talented people worked really hard for the 2.5 days and still have many more days of work to go!  All of these curriculum supports will be available on the OMEA website towards the end of the summer.
