KIRSTEN MACLAINE

Kirsten MacLaine

Kirsten began teaching music for the Toronto District School Board in 1999 teaching band, choir, keyboard and classical guitar to students in grades 9 – OAC. In 2003, Kirsten moved toPrince Edward Island where she currently teaches music (grades 1 – 8) at Central Queens Elementary School.

Kirsten received a Bachelor of Music, with a specialization in Education, from the University of Prince Edward Island in 1998. She earned a Bachelor of Education with a focus on Intermediate/Senior Instrumental music and English from Nipissing University in 1999. She has an Honours’ Specialist in Music from O.I.S.E./UT (2002) and is currently pursuing a Masters of Education degree in Curriculum Studies from the University of New Brunswick.

Kirsten is currently President of the Prince Edward Island Music Educator’s Association, a role she finds very satisfying and enjoys immensely.  She has been involved with the PEIMEA in various roles during the past 4 years.

When not teaching, Kirsten performs regularly with the UPEI Wind Symphony, at various Church services and as an occasional player with the PEI Symphony Orchestra. She and her husband, Matthew, live in Meadow Bank, PEI with their three young daughters Emma, Charlotte and Flora.
